Queensland is fast becoming Australia‘s premier food state. We’ve selected 7 of the best food festivals Queensland has to offer so you can decide where to head this May!

 

Noosa Food And Wine Festival

NOOSA FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL

When:
16 – 20 May

Where:
Noosa

Who Should Go:
Foodies, Wine-lovers and fans of all things craft beer.

What It’s About:
Five days (yes, five) of top quality food, wine and beer, with live music and entertainment thrown in.

Noosa Food & Wine Festival is an annual love affair of great food, wine, live music and entertainment. Spread over five mouth-watering days from 16-20 May 2019, in one of Australia’s favourite foodie destinations, Noosa. Dine on the beach, sample some of the extensive selection of great wines and beers and then head out to one of the many venues for music and entertainment.

Grazing The Granite Belt

The Granite Belt & Stanthorpe, Stanthorpe, QLD 4382

Who Should Go:
Anyone who wants to enjoy great wine and great food in a laidback setting.

What It’s About:
2 days of lazy grazing, with a hop-on hop-off bus ferrying foodies between venues all over town. Meet local winemakers on Sunday and explore the town on foot.

Not only a food festival, Grazing the Granite Belt offers participants a chance to explore Stanthorpe on the Saturday via a bus whilst indulging in the wonderful meals prepared with local ingredients by our food artisans, and sampling some of the best wine on the sunshine coast. The Sunday features breakfast with local Winemakers and then another chance to explore the town on foot before to use up any vouchers you have left at the participating venues.

Paniyiri Greek Festival

Australia’s largest Greek Festival held on a weekend in May. Paniyiri will stage a small-scale Greek takeover of South Brisbane featuring Greek food, music, arts and much, much more.

Paniyiri Greek Festival heads into its 43rd year celebrating all things Greek and showcasing great food. Nearly four decades on since Greek Australians first decided to share their cultural traditions with Brisbane, this kaleidoscopic cultural explosion is now legendary. For the foodie, the festival provides not only endless Greek food options prepared by some of Australia’s best Greek chefs and specialists in Mediterranean cuisine but also features cooking demonstrations from top chefs. The Hampton Festival

Set in beautiful scenery and nature, The Hampton Festival has a long tradition of championing fine fare made from local ingredients. Their mission is to promote a thriving farming culture, and the festival offers a wide range of food vendors, wineries, cafes and artisan producers, all with an emphasis on local produce. Growers on the Green allows you to see, taste and experience how your food is produced and grown. On 17-18 May the town turns itself over to the many different cultural events showcasing local artists alongside great food. Port Douglas Carnivale

Anyone looking for a carnival atmosphere, but especially lovers of seafood, the best fresh produce, and great wine.

What It’s About:
A festival of food and wine with a carnival twist celebrating the best of Tropical North Queensland.

Set in beautiful, tropical Port Douglas, the Carnivale celebrates great seafood, abundant fresh produce, and world class wines, as well as showcasing the best local artists, musicians and performers.

The Port Douglas Carnivale attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year and is one of the highlights of the Queensland food festival season. Originally held to mark the start of the sugar cane harvesting season, it now marks the opening of the tourism season with a bang and pulls in visitors from all over Australia and the world.

Goomeri Pumpkin Festival

Who Should Go:
Fans of unusual pumpkin based sports, foodies and especially those who love to eat pumpkin!

What It’s About:
A festival in celebration of the Pumpkin started to boost the once-ailing economy of Goomeri and is now one of the funnest and quirkiest food festivals about.

Now entering its 29th year, the festival was originally dreamed up during the droughts of the 1990s to aid Goomeri’s flagging economy and promote tourism to the area. It has gone on to be a huge success, attracting 17000 visitors last year.

The festival centre’s predictably enough around all things pumpkin! The Annual Pumpkin Roll is the highlight of the weekend, but there is a huge variety of pumpkin-based activities on offer.
